Making Plans

So how are the New Year's Resolutions going?

Did you make any?  Are you sticking to them?

Personally, I don't make them as I know that my general lack of will power means that they are doomed to failure.

However, the start of a new year is something to be celebrated and so rather than make resolutions this year, I have decided to make a plan.  A plan of things that I would like to achieve.

The whole family are involved in this plan and we have a list if things that we would like to do and places we would love to visit.

The children have come up with an interesting list if places that they want to visit and Disneyland Paris has been mentioned a lot, so I need to start saving.  The hubby is determined that this is the year he is going to get fit and has devised a plan of action to try and fit some exercise into his busy weekly schedule

So what about me then, what is my plan?

Well this year is all about the house.  We have lived in our house for just over ten years and even though we have seriously contemplated moving over the last few years, we have come to the conclusion that we don't really need to, we have everything we need here, the children are happy and the location is good, so the huge amount of money that we would have to spend to move seems like a complete waste.

However, and that is a big however, our house needs some serious care and attention.  It has had ten years of serious wear and tear; with the arrival of three children, endless bedroom changes and furniture moves, one moth infestation and it shows.  There isn't a room in the house that doesn't need work; whether it is painting, carpets or curtains, it is a huge job.

So that is the plan.  Little by little, I am going to work my way through the house with a good supply of paint and hopefully some good ideas and inspiration to transform all of the rooms with the minimum of cost.

Lloyds Bank have created a new app on Facebook called Make it Happen in 2014 to try and help people achieve their goals this year.  You can choose from Your Home, Your Life or Your Money and you then choose your goal from a list.  By making a pledge to achieve that goal, you can then access a 'toolbox' of articles and links to websites to help you on your way.

I chose 'This is the year I do up the house' as my goal and I was really impressed with my toolbox;

Of course, you can have more than one goal if you want to, but for me doing up the whole house is more that enough for one year and I will keep you posted about how I get on.
