The Land of Sometimes - Review

Get ready to be taken on a magical journey with twins Alfie and Elise as they travel to The Land Of Sometimes ,where four seasons pass within one day. Travelling through Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter the story unfolds and we are introduced to some interesting and slightly eccentric characters and each character has an original song. There is River Slouch Sling who just wants to make friends, Mrs Blip who likes to make you slip to the Chameleon Catcher, Little Twink, a naughty little fairy, the Willow Tree Choir Boy and others too. The songs are beautiful and all completely different in style and tempo. With jazz, reggae, disco and even folk, there is something for everyone and each song is catchy and melodic and really help to make the story compelling listening

As soon as we received the CD, it was obvious that this was going to be different to anything we had listened to before. The CD case itself doubles as a little book with pictures of Alfie and Elise and the characters that they meet on their magical journey.  There are no words in the book, just pictures and track listings along with a map of The Land of Sometimes.  The pictures are beautiful with bright colours and lots of details.

As a parent, there are times when story CD's can start to get on your nerves, however, we have listened to this quite a few times in the car and it certainly isn't the case.  My daughter, although only two, loves it.  I'm not sure how much of the story she is picking up, but she loves the songs.  They are all so different and as each one varies in style and tempo, it really does help to keep the listener enthralled.

Along with the CD, there is a website which allows you to find out more information about the characters in the story, look at an interactive map to find out more about the places Elise and Alfie visit in their magical adventure, print off and colour pictures of the characters and also sign up to be sent more information by email.

The CD will be available to buy from February 6th and you can pre-order it now from Amazon for £8.99.  It is suitable for ages 2 - 99.

I can thoroughly recommend this CD if you have younger children in particular, it is really enjoyable to listen to and shows the power of music and stories when put together.

The Land of Sometimes CD was sent to me free of charge for the purpose of this review.  The opinions shown are all my own.
