With the constant wet weather and cold mornings, we have been talking a lot about holidays again this week and where we would love to go as a family over the next few years. The children all put Disneyland at the top of their list; fueled by the exciting adverts on the television. Personally, I would be happy to go anywhere just as long as there was a beach and plenty of things there to keep the children occupied.
The husband however has a yearning to return to Ireland. He visited Ireland years ago before he had even met me and often talks fondly about the trip and how much he would love to go there. We have penciled it in as a possible destination for next year, but having looked, I have to agree that it does look like there are some beautiful places to visit there.
One such place is the city of Limerick and today I have a guest post giving you some ideas of ideal family-friendly places to visit.
Limerick has a wealth of activities and events children will enjoy. From leisure centres, indoor play centres and bowling to farms and historical attractions, there's so much to keep them occupied during your stay that they'll never want to leave! A few of our recommendations are:

Limerick has a wealth of activities and events children will enjoy. From leisure centres, indoor play centres and bowling to farms and historical attractions, there's so much to keep them occupied during your stay that they'll never want to leave! A few of our recommendations are:
Buttercup Farm
A traditional working farm, Buttercup Farm is a
great day out for all the family. Children will love the horse and cart rides,
nature trails and the playground. You can also enjoy a picnic or a meal
prepared using fresh local produce. Of course the stars of the show are the
animals themselves and here you can feed baby animals, see rabbits, cows,
chickens, sheep and more.
Adventure City
Hailed as Ireland's biggest and best children's
activity centre, Adventure City is a great place to visit whatever the weather. There's a huge soft
play centre, climbing 'volcano', pirate ship adventure playground, tropical
themed obstacle course, an all weather sports pitch, bungee trampolines, a
climbing wall, dodgems and a toddler play area. Phew! Plus a great café for
parents to relax in while the kids burn off some energy. An action packed day
for all.
Planet Bowl
Ten lanes of computerised bowling action can be
found at Planet Bowl in Limerick. Planet Bowel is located in Funworld, an
entertainment complex featuring a kids’ adventure area with ball pools, slides
and obstacle courses, along with pool tables and arcades - a great place to
enjoy on a rainy day!
St John's Castle
This 13th Century castle is a popular
choice among visitors to the area. Children and adults alike enjoy exploring
this ancient castle. Projections and 3D imaging only help to transport you back
in time, allowing you to imagine exactly what it was like here hundreds of
years ago. You'll find a forge and a medieval campaign tent in the courtyard
and a brand new visitor centre with lots of interactive activities.
Limerick is a great place to visit with children
of all ages. Why not book one of the family friendly hotels in
Limerick and discover what this historic town has to offer
your family.
