Kopi Subscription Coffee - Review

I love coffee! I have to admit that I try not to drink too much, but I certainly can't go through a day without at least one cup. My favourite coffee has to be reasonably strong with a lovely, rich smell. So when I had the chance to do a review of Kopi coffee, I jumped at the chance.

The concept of Kopi coffee is new to me;

"Gourmet coffee every month. Delivered."

You pay a monthly subscription and in return Kopi send you a different hand-picked gourmet coffee chosen by their experts from around the world. The freshly roasted coffee arrives in a 250g resealable pouch and you can choose from whole beans or pre-ground. With your coffee you also receive an information booklet with highlights of the month’s coffee, background and provenance about where it is from, aroma and tasting notes and also a brewing guide and tips.

If you decide to subscribe, there are three options. Monthly at £9 which can be cancelled at any time, six monthly where you pay £48 upfront which works out as £8 per month or you can opt for an annual fee of £84, again to be paid upfront which reduces the monthly subscription to £7.

The coffee that I received was Malawi Geisha AB Msese District.

"A rare and exemplary East African coffee with a sweet lemony liveliness."

As I opened the pouch, the smell of the coffee was amazing and as it was brewing, the kitchen was filled with a heady and rich aroma. The coffee itself was gorgeous, with a definite fruity, citric flavour. I am still a bit of a novice when it comes to coffee, but it certainly gave me a taste for more than my normal cup of instant coffee.

If you are a coffee lover, the web-site http://www.kopi.co.uk/ is well worth a look as it gives you all the information you need about the subscriptions and additional information about the coffee varieties they provide. Maybe if you know a discerning coffee lover, this subscription would make a lovely and unusual gift?

I was sent the 250g January blend coffee for the purposes of the review.  All opinions expressed in the review are entirely my own.
