Hooray for the sun!

This weekend was such a lovely treat. After the cold and wet weather of recent weeks, my children were starting to go a bit stir crazy. I have the sort of children who don't like sitting down or being stuck in. They want to be out; running, wrestling, playing, kicking a football or rugby ball, jumping on a trampoline, rolling down hills, in fact pretty much anything as long as they are moving and outside.

Sunday morning was beautiful and warm, so we packed drinks and snacks and headed off to a local park. If any of you have ever visited Broadway, a pretty little village on the edge of the Cotswold's in Worcestershire, the village itself is gorgeous, but there is an amazing park tucked away off the main street. The park itself was refurbished a couple of years ago and it is fabulous. Not only are there lots of fab areas for the children to play, there are fields and areas to play football or have a picnic, a basketball court and even fitness equipment suitable for the big kids or the adults. It is about a ten minute drive for us and we go over there whenever we can.

The amazing view from the park
The children had the most amazing time running and climbing. There is a brilliant climbing frame which they always make a beeline for when we arrive.
The climbing frame
Although it is rather high and I do have to keep nagging them to be careful, when they are right at the top.

It's very high up there!

We had to take some unusual photos while we were there as the boy's school do a 'Get caught reading' campaign around World Book Day, where we have to take photos of the children reading in unusual places. We thought that this morning would give us such an opportunity and this is what we came up with.

He had a bit of a bump at the end!

After some serious reading shots, it was back to fun with the strangest and bounciest seesaw we have ever been on and some very high monkey bars.

So what about little miss stroppy pants. My two year old daughter is going through the terrible two's at the moment and the last week has been interesting to say the least. She enjoyed herself at the park, but there were a few tantrums along the way ...

We are going through a rather argumentative phase currently and so every five minutes or so, A would have a huge tantrum about the thing she had stopped playing on, even though she had chosen to stop, but I think she enjoyed herself.

The boys escaped with daddy and their dad to the field for a good old game of footy and a general roll around in the mud.
All rounded off with some juice and home made cookies.  A good morning and we all felt better for having had some fresh air and sunshine.  Bring on the Spring!

I am linking this post to Coombe Mill's Country Kids Link up.  Let's get our children outside.

I would love to have some kit like this here one day. Thank you so much for sharting your lovely sunny morning with Country Kids. I have never had 21 entries before and am thrilled!

  3. That park looks fantastic, I love the direction children's play areas are taking these days. I would absolutely love one of those big bowl swings in my garden, the baby and I always try and have a go in one when we visit the park.

  4. What a brillant day, but you are a braver Mummy than me, I would be scared silly about that climbing frame! It is fantastic to get the kids out in the open air and we would rather be out than in!
