The Gallery - A Family Story

So another interesting challenge this week. Tara Cain wants a photo that tells a story. I have to admit that I was scratching my head a bit and wondering whether I had such a photo and then I came across this photo;

Once upon a time, there was a little boy who spent most of his childhood as an only child.  He really wanted brothers or sisters but as his mum and dad had split up, it was looking unlikely.  Then, his mum remarried and along came a little brother.  Big brother was pleased, but a little bit unsettled by the new arrival.  Nineteen months later along came brother number two.  Big brother was a teensy bit disappointed that it was another boy, but he was a lovely big brother and was very tolerant of his crazy siblings.  It was looking quite likely that mum wouldn't have any more babies and then lo and behold, four years later, another baby was on the way.  Mum knew that she was having a little girl but she decided to keep it to herself so it would be a nice surprise for everyone.  It was.

This photo was my then fourteen year old son meeting his baby sister for the first time.  I think it speaks for itself.

This post was written in response to a prompt for The Gallery on Tara Cain's brilliant blog Sticky Fingers  if you want to see more pop on over and have a look.

  12. It so does speak for itself. He looks completely and utterly captivated and enamoured with her. He's very confident with babies isn't he?

  13. That's a great photo, he looks so proud of his sister and you can see that he is going to adore her and protect her! The story is very sweet, I hope my nephew gets to have this experience one day as he is 5 and his parents have split up but my lovely sister is still young and could easily have more children - I hope hope hope she does!!
