The Gallery - My Photography Resolutions

A slightly different theme for The Gallery this week, we are making some photo resolutions for the year to come. As I am attempting the 366 project for the first time,even after three weeks, my attitude to photo taking has changed and so this is an interesting post for me. So her are my photography resolutions;

1. So my first resolution is to take more photos. Easy! I am now taking photos every day as a result of the 366 project and I have already taken some lovely photos, which I wouldn't have otherwise. It's easy to get the camera out on special occasions and days out, but now, I am taking photos all the time. I am driving the children crazy but the result is photos of them in the mornings when they are tired and snuggly, photos at mealtimes when it is the best time to get a photo of all of my children together and generally some lovely shots which are natural and will be lovely to look back on in years to come.

2. Secondly is to take a few photos that aren't of my children. We are lucky enough to live in a beautiful part of the world and I have become aware of some amazing photography opportunities all around me and I intend to make the most of them.
Look no children!
3. I hate photos of myself. Loathe them. I really need to be in a few more photos this year. I have to remember the photos of me are not for my benefit, they are for my children to look back on in years to come. So at least once a week, I will aim to be in a photo and if I hate it (which I will!) I will not delete it, I will simply leave it and smile.

A rare picture of me!
4. Lastly, I want to be a bit more creative with my photos. I take most of my photos on my phone and it is so simple to edit them through apps like Instagram and some photos might be a bit dark or out of focus and it is so simple to touch them up and make them lovely.

This wasn't great before editing

If you want to see the other photography resolutions in The Gallery pop over to Tara Cain's brilliant blog Sticky Fingers and take a look.

  2. I'm in very few of our pictures too - must do better. It would be nice for my son to have some pics of his mum to look back on.

  4. Lovely framing in the last shot. Taking more pics isn't going to be hard, next year we'll be setting a resolution to take less pics! That's how I feel doing the 366 project anyhow. I'm going to need more hard drive space by March I think ;-)

  7. Great list of resolutions – I find that writing my blog most days (not everyday), makes me think of all the great things I have to be grateful for whether it be the kids, the beautiful world we live in, the wonders of mother nature or just how lucky we are to be alive and kicking. I bet you the more pictures of yourself you take the more you will come to love yourself – it is a lovely picture of you and the kids!
